SAT test preparation might not produce desired results if it does not teach you strategies to solve problems in the right way. Most students who undergo SAT test preparation are pretty familiar with the SAT test pattern. Being good at one of the sections does not guarantee a good SAT exam score. To aid you in your SAT test preparation let me share with you a few strategies that I also use in my tutoring.
Just grind it out as best you can; however, respect your energy. You may wake up in the morning and need to go on a jog, do something fun, call your family, go to the spa, or do other things to take your mind away. Taking time to disconnect from your study is VERY important.
The SAT Exam costs $45. The ACT exam costs $32 – so it is cheaper UNLESS you take the ACT with the optional writing test as it then costs $47 which makes it marginally more expensive.
Tracking. It’s hard to have a good plan in place until you know how you are going to perform. SAT Prep classes can help you track your progress and asses your strengths and weaknesses. Tracking your scores and recording your performance is absolutely essential to achieve your highest SAT score.
As you read, Nicholas did quite well on the SATs. If you think you might not be completely ready for the SATs, consider a college entrance Best SAT Prep home tutor or a math or reading tutoring program service like Huntington Learning Center. Huntington Learning Center has been open since 1977 and it focuses on preparing students for the types of questions they will see on tests like the SAT test. Both a home tutor and a tutoring service incorporate working one-on-one with a student to provide individual attention for mastering test-taking skills. With a tutoring center like Huntington Learning Center, there is a diagnostic evaluation available to help discover a student’s strengths and weaknesses.
Some people think: Oh, wow. That’s going to be great and he could really use some extra time. Maybe I should try to get my child qualified for extra time. Keep in mind, extra time can be a curse rather than a blessing. The SAT is a 4-hour long exam. Some students who are receiving 50% extra time have taken a 4-hour exam and made it a 6-hour exam plus additional time for breaks. A lot of my students with attention and focus issues have a really hard time sitting there for 4 hours; 6 hours is impossible. The extra time hurts their ability to perform on the test.
First, scan through the paper, quickly recognising the questions you know you can answer well. There will usually be one or two that you feel less confident about.
